Grand Canyon Conservancy (GCC) respects your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes the information we may collect from you as a visitor to www.grandcanyon.org our website (“Site”). 

By visiting our Site, you confirm that you accept the terms of this Policy and the practices it describes. If you do not consent, you should not use our Site or otherwise provide personal information to us.

Personal Information You Provide 

The purposes for which we collect, use, or disclose personal information will be limited to those related to our business and which a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances. We collect, use, and disclose personal information concerning our constituents for the following reasons: to understand who our constituents are and how we may improve our services to meet their preferences and expectations, to respond to requests for information, and to meet requirements imposed by law. 

Personal information or registration is not required to access or use most areas of our Site. The information we collect pertains to actions you choose to take, such as signing up for our newsletter, registering for a class, becoming a member, or making a donation. Personal information may include your name, mailing address, email address, telephone number, payment card information, and other information you choose to provide. 

Other Information We Collect

We may sometimes collect information about you from third parties we work with or through publicly available sources. We may combine that information with other information we collect about you. This information may come from vendors such as Blackbaud/Luminate, Arctic Reservations, and Shopify. We do not have any control over the third parties that provide us with your information, including how they collect, process, or disclose your personal information. 

In order to better serve you, we (or our service providers on our behalf) automatically collect information about you or the device you use to access the Site such as your internet protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform, device identifiers, geolocation information, and other technology on the devices you use to access our Site.We gather data using cookies, pixels, and similar technologies so we can understand your needs and personalize your experience on the Site. We may collect this data from various sources, including Google Analytics. 

You can prevent Google Analytics from recognizing you on return visits to our Site by disabling cookies on your browser. If you choose to disable any cookies, some features of the Site may become disabled, and some aspects of the Site may not function properly. 

Other Websites and Third-Party Links

Our Site contains links to other third-party sites. Please note that when you click on one of these links, you are leaving our Site and entering another site for which GCC has no control. We allow third parties, including business partners, advertising networks, and other advertising service providers, to collect information about your online activities through cookies, pixels, local storage, and other technologies. These third parties may use this information to display advertisements elsewhere online tailored to your interests, preferences, and characteristics. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties, and the information practices of these third parties are not covered by this Policy.

Sharing of Your Personal Data

GCC does not sell your personal information. However, we may trade or exchange your postal mailing address with other like-minded, nonprofit organizations that may be of interest to you. Box 399 Grand Canyon, AZ 86023, or send an email to GCC (gcconservancy@grandcanyon.org) and request that your personal information not be traded or exchanged. 

Other than noted above, GCC does not disclose your personal data to any third parties, except (i) to service providers (who are obligated to maintain confidentiality) to manage the Site, (ii) to send you communications about your interactions with us, (iii) as required by law or requested by governmental or law enforcement authorities, subpoena, court order or discover request, or when we otherwise believe in good faith that such disclosure is appropriate to enforce our Terms of Service or in connection with any activity that may violate the law or the rights of others, threaten the safety or security of any per or property (including the Site) or expose us to liability, (iv) with your consent or as otherwise disclosed at the time of data collection or sharing. 

Our Site includes a section where you may submit a story for posting. Please be aware that the information you provide in the submitted stories may become available to the general public. 

Individual Access

Upon written request, we will inform an individual of the existence, use, and disclosure of his or her personal information, and we will give the individual access to that personal information. An individual can challenge the accuracy and completeness of his or her personal information and have it amended as appropriate. We will respond to an individual’s written request within a reasonable time. We will assist any individual who informs us that they need assistance in preparing a request. We may require an individual to provide sufficient information to permit us to provide an account of the existence, use, and disclosure of personal information. If an individual successfully demonstrates the inaccuracy or incompleteness of personal information, we will amend the information as required. In certain situations, we may refuse a request or not be able to provide access to all the personal information we hold about an individual. Exceptions to the access requirement will be limited and specific, as permitted or required by law.

Security and Safeguards

GCC takes every precaution to protect our constituents’ information. Only employees or authorized persons who need the information to perform a specific task for GCC are granted access to personally identifiable information. Although we employ safeguards to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information. 

Children's Privacy

This Site is not intended for, and we do not seek or desire to collect information from children under 13 years of age in the United States (or 16 years of age outside the United States). We will not knowingly request information from persons under such ages. If you are the parent or guardian of a child under 13 years of age in the United States (under 16 years of age outside the United States) and you believe your child has provided personal data to us without verifiable parental consent, you may contact us at gcconservancy@grandcanyon.org. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to delete such information within a reasonable timeframe, subject to applicable laws and this Policy. 

International Use

Grand Canyon Conservancy operates this Site from the United States.  If you are located outside of the United States, you acknowledge and understand that any personally identifiable information you submit will be transferred to Grand Canyon Conservancy in the United States. Access to the Site from countries or territories where such access is illegal or contrary to applicable rules or regulations is prohibited. Those who access the Site from outside the United States do so of their own volition and are responsible for compliance with local laws, rules, and regulations.  

Unsubscribe

You may unsubscribe from GCC email and mail updates at any time, and we will make that option readily available. Unsubscribe links are included at the bottom of every email communication that we send. If you are unable to complete your request through our automated process, please contact us by emailing gcconservancy@grandcanyon.org and include “RE: Unsubscribe” in your subject line. You also may submit an unsubscribe request to us by mail to the address below and include “Attn: Marketing." Requests are usually completed within several business days.

Once you have unsubscribed, GCC will put you on a “do not contact” list, but we will retain your information for backup and archival purposes, including, without limitation, to maintain necessary records of donations and online park store transactions.
