The extreme environment of Grand Canyon is like none other, yet people from all over the world come to experience the unique adventure of hiking into the canyon. Tragically, each year, some lives are lost, and many rescues are performed – often because people do not understand their limitations.

Meghan Smith, Preventive Search and Rescue Supervisor and Coordinator at Grand Canyon National Park, will share tips on having a safe and unforgettable adventure at Grand Canyon, including tips on preparedness, hydration, and hiking in the heat. Smith will also share how the Preventive Search and Rescue (PSAR) team helps educate visitors about the extreme conditions and supports hikers needing trail assistance. After the presentation, there will be a Q&A with the audience.
